I have learned a lot since I started this class in January. I started out with little to no info about making quality videos. But know that we have reached the end of the semester I have come so far. I have learned the shot sequences wide, medium, close up shots, how to edit in final cut pro and more. I have learned the techniques of how to interview, I have learned the steps of hey, so ,see, so. I worked with my fellow classmates on projects that involved using these skills, such as The final project, the interview project, the six word story, and the iam project. I have had fun with this class and have learned a lot. In the future I plan on taking brodcasting 2. I thank Mr. Goble and Mrs. D for everything they have taught me and all the help they have provided me.

So this is our last project and it was a newspackage. My group consisted of Bobby, Nikan, and me. Our subject was Dr.Lyons. He is a very good subject, but it was difficult to find time to interview him. The project went somewhat well, even though there was a lot of struggle. We had trouble with audio and some clips. I honestly can say I tried to edit as best as I can, and it will turn out, however it turns out. I would say our biggest problem was not able to get the amount of shots we wanted, due to the fact dr. Lyons was never in his class and we had trouble getting footage of just him working, because he moves around a lot. But in the end we did our best and we tried to edit as best as it did.
1. always bring headphones so you can adjust and hear your interview
2. always have a SD card in the camera in case one is out of memory. 3.always do a white balance check before you go out shooting 4.when shooting keep the same person on the same side. don't move the persons position. 5. do not use the cameras effects, add affects later when editing The two videos I chose for " hey, you, see,so" were the veteran, and the football video.
In the Story about the veteran, the (hey) was that he is a veteran. The (You) was how he proposed to his wife through a letter , then went straight to the military after. The (see) is how he sent a simple letter to the president, and the (so) is when it was put into a veterans museum. In the story about the football team, the (hey) was the trick play. The (you) was that no one knew the play except for the team. The (see) was when they let a kid score his first touchdown. The (so) when the kid became popular after the touchdown. This project's subject was interviews. I used Bobby Dengel as my subject. Bobby is one of my classmates that I frequently use for my projects. Bobby is on the Jv golf team and I interviewed him on the subject of golf.Going into the project I felt a little nervous, because I didn't think I would have enough questions or the skills to make a quality interview. After watching Mr. Goble's presentation, I had a greater grasp on the concept and the techniques used to make a good interview. It took me and Bobby two days to film the actual interview. Once I got back from spring break I edited my project and it turned out great.( In my eyes of course) I thought I had a bad project, but after some careful editing and some help with the editing my project turned out great. Im proud of myself and my subject Bobby and I look forward to the next project.
So the new project is interviews. I have never done interviews before so, I had to pay a lot of attention to the lessons. This project Im interviewing bobby about him playing JV golf. The concepts of the interviews are somewhat easy for example, rule of thirds, audio, and positioning. The only problem I think Im going to have is the questions. I don't know if Im going to have enough questions to ask. I have been brainstorming a lot and have found a few. I hope it is enough and that I have a good project.
This project we had to find six key words and use them in our videos. finding the six words was somewhat challenging, but finding the right shots was challenging. I used bobby as my subject for this project just like the last two. He is always a good subject and fun to work with. In this project I had bobby play basketball. The six words were " Success is not given its earned." I used bobby to show this message through basketball. THough i chose basketball this message can be translated through anything, whether its sports or everyday life.Recently me and my fellow classmates read Ernest Hemingway's six word story. The story went like this "For sale, baby shoes, never worn." The way I interpreted this was different then most. I was informed the style of shoes in the picture were from the 1930's. This was during the great depression. The way I saw it was a family was poor and was trying to sell the shoes for money. while I interpreted the story that way, others saw it differently. I looked up the meaning to this story and found a multitude of different answers. Most of the sites I went to told me "the meaning to the story is whatever you see it as." I have never used final cut pro before, until now and to be honest it is very easy to use. The instructions were easy to follow and I had no trouble editing my video. I like using Final Cut Pro because it has many cool and unique feature that make my video stand out from other videos. From what I could tell no one had a video like mine. In conclusion Final Cut Pro is a great tool to use and it is easy and accessible. I give it a 8/10
This project was all about finding certain shots of people or objects, such as wide shots, tight shots, medium shots, etc. I liked this project a lot because I like a good (challenge) The project wasn't that hard because the people/objects weren't hard to find. Me and My partner found everything we needed and We had fun doing it. Our shots turned out great. I like working with Bobby a lot because Ive worked with him before on projects and he's done good work. |
